The Passerelle des Arts nominated for the BeNeLux Steel Bridge Contest 2025

The Passerelle des Arts has been nominated for the BeNeLux Steel Bridge Contest 2025 organised by Infosteel. The verdict will be announced on 11 February 2026.

This biennial competition highlights engineering structures made of steel or mixed steel-concrete construction. The Passerelle des Arts, for which the Kirchberg Fund is the project owner, was selected in the ‘Cycle and Pedestrian Bridges’ category from among 36 entries.

With this competition, Infosteel (B) and Bouwen met Staal (NL) aim to promote and highlight exemplary bridge projects. The aim is to generate enthusiasm among project owners, architects, builders/design offices, steel fabricators and other project partners for the (smart) applications of steel and steel-concrete in infrastructure, particularly in bridges, whether movable or not. The projects are divided into four regions: Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands and International.

The members of the jury are:

•    Frédéric de Oliveira, Ministry of Mobility and Public Works, Civil Engineering Administration, Engineering Structures Division, Luxembourg (LU)

•    Wim Hoeckman, engineer-architect, professor emeritus at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, independent expert/consultant, Ghent (BE)

•    Gerhard Nijenhuis (jury chair), designer, founder of ipv Delft, Delft (NL)
