Passerelle des Arts Luxembourg. A structural engineering gem for pedestrians and cyclists, recounted in a book.
Published by the Kirchberg Fund in collaboration with Park Books, this book documents the entire concept, design, and construction process of the Passerelle des Arts in Luxembourg.
Through plans, drawings, texts and photographs by Erieta Attali and Christian Aschman, readers can discover the entire design process behind this pedestrian and cycle bridge in the southern European quarter of Kirchberg in Luxembourg. The Passerelle des Arts connects Avenue J. F. Kennedy, the main thoroughfare in Kirchberg, with MUDAM Luxembourg – Luxembourg's museum of contemporary art – and the Dräi Eechelen museum. Designed by the Parisian firm Marc Mimram Architecture Ingénierie in collaboration with the Luxembourg firm Fabeck Architectes, it stands out for its sculptural design and its aim to preserve its natural environment, considered a green treasure in the heart of the city.
Winding its way through the trees of the urban forest and equipped with benches installed along its curves, its architecture encourages visitors to slow down and take a contemplative stroll. The close relationship between nature and culture strongly influenced the choice of materials: the main structure of the bridge is made of polished stainless steel, combined with light-coloured concrete elements for the deck and glass railings. The result is a structure that changes constantly with the seasons and the weather.
Passerelle des Arts Luxembourg is selected for the Luxembourg Design Awards 2025, in the Editorial Design category.
