The annual report 2021 is out now

The future of Kirchberg is marked out by its many residential projects, which will make this area of the city a truly urban district. In 2021, the vision of a resilient district combining all the functions for living took concrete form. In this annual report, the Fund revisits these beacon projects and the progress made on them.

The JFK South Zone A project will start in the second half of 2023. It is a new cooperation between the affordable housing association SNHBM (Société nationale des habitations à bon marché) and the Kirchberg Fund. The directors of the two bodies sum up the most recent joint projects realized, in the Kiem and Réimerwee districts, and explain how the new project is taking shape, located along the Avenue John F. Kennedy and set to offer over 200 apartments.

The 2021 report focuses on the Kuebebierg project and the urban development proposed by the multidisciplinary team assembled around urban architect Mathis Güller. As winner of the paid tender initiated by the Fund, the team addresses environmental and demographic challenges by proposing an urban density that respects the human as much as it does nature.

Inviting nature into the city is also what landscape architect Michel Desvigne does. In the highly stone-dominated environment of the European Court of Justice, he is laying out the Garden of Multilingualism. He explains for us how he approached this task, by introducing a miniature version of the farmed countryside into this wholly administrative district. Lastly, the annual report reviews the inaugurations undertaken by the Fund, and all the activities that make Kirchberg, every day that little bit more, an attractive and vibrant district.
