Secretariat of the European Parliament, second phase

Consolidating the services of the Secretariat-General of the European Parliament in Luxembourg

The Konrad Adenauer 2 site (KAD 2) will bring together all the departments of the Secretariat-General of the European Parliament, currently spread across various locations throughout Luxembourg City. It will house around 3,000 employees, in an area of 200,000 m2. A grand portico on Avenue John F. Kennedy marks the edge of an internal courtyard, itself punctuated by a 16-floor skyscraper in one corner.

The works were realised in two separate phases:

  • The works for the eastern part were completed at the end of 2019. The European Parliament initially envisaged renewing the Konrad Adenauer 1 (KAD 1) building, constructed in 1987, and integrating the new configuration which will border the four sides of the site fronting onto the road. However, the decision has now been taken to forego renovation and to hold the KAD 1 building in reserve, in its current condition.
  • The western part will be built between 2020 and 2023.
Construction in two phases: The eastern part having been completed, the construction of the western part continue.
