Réimerwee Ensemble 2

A façade chosen by the future residents

The design by the TANK architects’ office allows for a high degree of personalisation, both inside and outside the buildings.

The five buildings are of equal height (ground floor + four upper levels), and are given a similar treatment in terms of their general appearance. The project optimises the construction system (limited scale, maximum 6 m), comprising beams/joists and slabs in concrete, creating a frame that offers open-plan design, to enable multiple types of accommodation.

The façade is designed as a living skin, encouraging diversity of use. Genuinely an extra room, it can become a balcony, a conservatory  or a loggia, changing the aspect. It is dominated by four materials: the framing structure in concrete, the façade filled in grey-coloured brick, projecting balconies with separating partitions between residents in concrete/brick (or a garden or storeroom), glass parapets, with frames and shutters in wood.

The call for applications for these affordable homes has closed.
