Kirchberg Hospital

Kirchberg Hospital is part of the "Hôpitaux Robert Schuman" group, established in 2014. This major healthcare centre of excellence is born of the linking of the Sainte-Elisabeth and Sacré-Coeur hospitals.

Occupying close on 3 ha between Rue Edward Steichen and Rue des Labours, its architecture is characterised by its clean forms (use of glass, with plenty of light) and courtyards between the various blocks, allowing for extensions as needed.

In fact, an extension with a 16-floor tower and a gross built area of around 40,000 m2 is currently under construction (Baumschlager & Eberle + Christian Bauer & Associés Architectes). These additional areas will enable the hospital capacities to be expanded for new operating theatres, and to accommodate the Sainte-Marie geriatric hospital, which is having to vacate its premises in Esch-sur-Alzette, along with the new national service for specialist ophthalmology, the new youth psychiatry service, an out-patient kidney dialysis hub, an expansion in A&E services and a hotel for patients, in a new accommodation model aimed at welcoming independent patients whose health condition does not require continuous monitoring, but who need to stay close to their hospital.
